With the 2016/17 season around the corner the Worcester Royals are happy to announce that for the coming year the team’s home ground will be located at the University of Worcester’s impressive new Lakeside campus.
The Lakeside campus - formerly the Top Barn outdoor activity centre, located just a 15 minute drive north of the University’s St. Johns campus, was acquired earlier this year by the University of Worcester. The move offers the Royals a significant upgrade in facilities for both training and game days.
Whilst they will be sad to leave their former home The Moors, the Royals will look back fondly at some of the most memorable moments in their history such as the club’s first BUCS victory in late 2013 against the University of Nottingham, and the infamous 2015 Mud-bowl against the NTU Renegades - just some of the highlights the club has enjoyed at their former ground.
When asked for his opinion on the move, club chairman Mike Harris had to say “It was never going to be easy saying goodbye to the Moors but the time feels right. The new facilities at Lakeside will ensure that the home of Royals Football meets the growing needs of the club as well as generating further excitement about playing home games for players, coaches and spectators alike’’
We hope to see as many supporters as possible at our new ground for our season opener that will be on Sunday the 6th of November against the University of Warwick. More fixture announcements will be made shortly.
The address for the new Lakeside campus is:
Worcester Road
Holt
WR6 6NH
We hope to see you there soon!
