CLUB STATEMENT: Head Coach Announcement

The club would like to announce that for the upcoming 2016/17 season former Offensive Line coach Rich Smith will take over as Head Coach of the Worcester Royals American Football team.

In a letter to the players and coaches club Chairman, Mike Harris, revealed Smith would replace the long serving Stuart Andrew at the helm of the coaching team.

"After careful consideration Rich Smith has been appointed Head Coach of the Worcester Royals for 2016/17 season," said Harris. "We look forward to working with Rich and all his coaching staff in the coming season.

"At this point I would also like to thank Stuart Andrew for his incredible commitment to the team during his time in the role and look forward to his continued involvement with the club."

Former Head Coach Stuart Andrew held the for three seasons, accumulating numerous club records during his time in charge. These achievements included guiding the side to their first ever victory, a first ever winning season in 2014/15 and two Varsity triumphs over rivals Gloucestershire Gladiators.

"Having spoken to both Mike and Rich about this, may I be the first to congratulate Rich on his appointment," said Andrew. "I look forward to working with him and you all moving forward in whatever capacity needed for the good of the team."

"Individual titles and milestones don't mean anything if the team isn't progressing! Let's begin work on #Project2017 as a family and the results will take care of themselves!"

Stuart's enthusiasm and love of the team resounded in the incredible commitment he gave to the club.

The entire Worcester Royals family would like to personally thank Stuart for everything he's done for the team, we look forward to enjoying his continued presence and extensive footballing knowledge.
