Celebrating the Past and the Future: Royals End of Season Awards Night Winners Announced

What another fantastic year it's been for the Royals, completing their first season in division one BUCS American football and beating Gloucestershire in Varsity for the second consecutive year.

The program is continuing to build, going from strength to strength, and last Friday this progression was celebrated with the club's annual end of season awards dinner, hosted by Mode Worcester. The event revealed who'd received what accolades from that season and also who would be inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame.

Winners of awards from the 2016 season were announced first, recognising their achievements and efforts throughout the year towards the club, on and off the field. The winners are as follows:

Offensive MVP - 3rd year Centre, William Carson

Defensive MVP - 3rd year Linebacker, Oliver Kirby

Special Teams MVP - 3rd year Kicker/Wide Receiver, Joe Tate

Lineman of the Year - (Shared) 3rd year Centre, William Carson, and 3rd year Tackle, Sam Hearne

Rookie of the Year - 1st year Wide Receiver, James Deady

Most Improved - 1st year Running Back, Cameron Edkins

Player's Player of the Year (voted for by the players) - 2nd year Running Back, Mike Harris

Chairman's Award (given in recognition of outstanding efforts towards the team) - Running Back Coach, Social Secretary, Team Motivatior, Tommy Strange

Team MVP - 3rd year Linebacker, Oliver Kirby.
