Royals vs Warwick Wolves - Match Preview

Another week goes and another Sunday arrives, but this one is special. The return of Royals Football to Worcester is here as the club host Warwick Wolves in their home opener, looking to build upon last week’s impressive victory.

How will Worcester make it two wins from two? More of the same please. If the run game can be productive, keeping the chains moving, and the passing game being efficient and accurate,

then the offense will produce and will be hard to keep out the endzone.

Worcester will also need to channel the defensive performance from the season opener, only one first down conceded, plenty of penetration and the four turnovers helped achieve the shutout. It will be a different test but the defense will be up for the fight.

A divisional rival for a few years now the Warwick Wolves will always be a stern test for the Royals. This year’s matchups against the Wolves are highly anticipated with Worcester quickly closing the gap on the top teams in their division as the club steadily improves year on year.

Warwick opened their season with a 24 - 12 loss at Midlands 1A favourites Nottingham Trent Renegades and will be looking to notch up a first win this season. If they are to challenge for top spot this season victory against Worcester is going to be crucial.

Last time the two sides faced Warwick ran away from a 20 - 19 halftime lead, eventually coming away 44 - 19 victors. A scoreline the Royals felt didn’t fairly reflect how close both sides actually were.

Reflecting on an improving Royals team, and their thumping opening victory, both sides will be anticipating a physical and close encounter with Worcester hoping home field advantage is the tipping point.
